Default Non starting Curvy after drop.

Hello , Im looking to buy this 2001 SV650 , this is what I was told by the seller , he lay the bike on it's side broke the brake lever and peg , bike has power but won't start , he presses the ignition button and not a sound , been reading about the tip over sensor , is this what happens when the sensor is activated it will be a dead bike no cranking noise nothing?? or is there other sensor to look at? Thanks for the info

Check the kill switch first

Dunno if the old model has a clutch and or sidestand safety cutout to prevent starting but look at those as well

Thought the sidestand cut out was only for if the bike was in gear? So if the bikes in neutral it would make no difference?

Well obviously...

But what if the gear sensor or wiring has been damaged by the drop?

But the drop was on the other side of the bike, so wouldnt have thought it would have damaged that.

Possibly, possibly not, **** knows the circumstances on why or how the bike ended up on it's side

But much better to mention it than not and have it crop up later, pedantry helps nobody...

Thanks for the info , now I never had a SV my only other bike was a R1 and never had to do anything but oil change, so where are this switches , the tip over I read was by the battery box , how about the kill switch? or that safety stand switch.
The seller just mention that the bike went down on its right side only and after that it wont start , Im going to look at in the morning so Im just trying to gather as much info as I can to make sure I not getting my self into something that I will have no clue how to fix. Thanks

Clutch switch is under the clutch lever. Check to make sure it hasnt come loose/corroded/bent.

Kill switch is obvious enough, big fat red button by the front brake

There's no tip over sensor on the curvy carbed model.

Simple stuff first - bike in neutral (is the N light showing?), kill switch in correct position (sorry to mention this, but we've all done it) .

The clutch switch is a two prong connector underneath the clutch perch. It's the wrong side of the bike but could have been dislodged if he tried to catch the bike or when heaving it back up.

If the right hand switch gear has been damaged there could be a problem with the kill switch or start button wiring. Remove the two screws to split the housing if you want to take a look.

If that doesn't help someone more knowledgeable will be along later.

Ignition fuse first, i did exactly the same, fuse had gone after dropping it, next bypass the clutch switch they have a habit of breaking to after a knock.

There is no tilt switch.
