Default Fork oil seals selection

Any one used non genuine suzuki oil seals? did they hold up ok?

Suzuki want £12.09 each, tempted buy wemotos £8 for two, but pointless if they last half as long.

Thank you.

Good afternoon.

I always use genuine seals, which although pricey are very consistent in quality. Whereas, pattern seals are not.
If financial constraints are an issue, I would obtain some Vesrah seals which seem to be the best quality amongst seals of the pattern variety.

Cheers.

I don't know if you have it in UK but if you run in to Shindy seals they are same as stock.

That would be because Vesrah make seals for the likes of Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda etc. They also make a variety of other parts such as cables, gaskets and brake pads for OEM supply. What you're buying is a Suzuki part but without the Suzuki sticker on the plastic bag and at non-genuine Suzuki price.

I know this because I used to be the local area sales rep for Bickers, who import Vesrah into the UK.

One of my colleagues at the time was asked by a major Kawasaki Distributor up north to find Z900 valves for him, because he'd heard that Vesrah made pattern ones in the past. They arrived from Vesrah in Japan in Genuine Kawasaki packaging - turned out Vesrah used to make them for Kawasaki when the Z900 was a current model, and they simply made some more to order for my colleague's customer.

Indeed they do. Yet I have yet to see a Vesrah seal that is identical to a genuine seal from any of the big four maunfacturers. There are differences in the consistency & finish of the rubber, they are invariably a somewhat tighter fit in the slider.
Whether or not they produce a different seal for the pattern market, who knows, & granted, genuine seals are a bit of a rip off, especially from Suzuki. Yet I have found that genuine seals last the longest, period.
It's the same with their brake pads. They are a good pad, but they don't perform in an identical way to an o/e pad, & the friction compound is visually different to any o/e pad that I've seen.

I'm not a fan of Bickers myself. Their attitude towards the DID chain cracking issue of some years ago stunk!
I have had many an interesting discussion with their reps, where they make various claims regarding the compatibility of components. Such as it's ok to fit a honda oil filter to a Yamaha etc.
In my view if one did so & the customer experienced an engine failure, (whether it was down to an oil supply problem or not). One wouldn't have a leg to stand on if the matter ended up in a small claims court.
I asked Bickers to put a guarantee of compatibility in writing & they wouldn't, so draw your own conclusions.

Cheers.
