Default Car Insurance!!!

Has anyone else noticed their premium sky rocket recently?
I have just had new renewal through and they are asking £100 more than last year despite me turning 25 and having 6 years no claims!! So my premium is now £450.
I know they normally try to swindle you on the renewal but last year they gave me the cheapest I could find and actually if I go do a quote elsewhere they are all more expensive than my renewal even directline who I am with.

Not only that I am looking to buy a new (to me) car, exactly the type I used to own 3 years ago when I was 22 and had 3 years no claim and they are quoting the same amount now as what I paid then!!

What's going on?

I wish my car insurance was £450!

Just have a shop around when i got my renewal it was the cheapest and i couldnt find a better deal, but when ever my Dad gets a renewal he cancels the policy and then takes out a new policy with the same company because some how its cheaper

Yeah I did that the first year or two cos they were cheaper to cancel and take out a new policy but this time and the last my renewal was cheaper than a new policy. And actually the renewal now is still cheaper than a policy but it's still £100 more expensive and I can't understand why??

Mr speirs, i used to use direct line, but now use priviledge, who are underwritten and owned by driect line.
They are cheaper for some reason, same cover everything.
Try them, or one of the comparison sites, there is always someone cheaper.

On a good note, my van insurance went down this year to £250, im with Quoteline direct for my commercial insurance and for some reason went down £50.

Cheapest cover is not always the best BTW.

Privilage was more than £200 more expensive than my renewal quote.
It looks like my renewal quote is the cheapest but when you are paying more than the previous year you can't help but feel cheated somewhat.
But this is what I am saying everyone that provides car insurance seems to have bumped their prices up significantly.
