Default What a Lovely Tribute!!!

Some of you may have already seen these pics but I`ll share them anyway

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa not far from where my brother lives. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.

It's quite an impressive sight! I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.

It is the work of one teenager, Ray 'Bubba' Sorensen.

shame they had to go and spoil it with a quote from warmonger Bush.

America was founded on some great principles "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Shame its slipped so, so far away from that ideal.

did a bit of research on that... he's been painting it since 1999 and changes it every year. the pictures on this one was painted in 2003. have a look at the link for the other years pics. brilliantly talented.
