Hey guys,
It will be my 21st in just over a month and my mum has said I can have something abit special ![]() After some serious thinking I've decided that it would be pretty kool to get an old bike that is in need of some love and attention, then to strip it down to the frame and make it as new. I personally think this will be awsome, nothing more I enjoy than fixing problems on the SV so this will be right up my alley!! Only thing is, what bike?? So far I have come up with the Kawasaki ZXR-400 as it was by popular belief the best 400 of the 90s? Really not sure where else to start looking so have come here for some ideas! Only criteria are that I can pick one up for between £500-1000 be it accident damaged(not too smashed up though) or a non runner, have spares faulty available and not to be too much of a rocket as it would be nice to get insured on it once I've finnished! Thanks again, I look forward to hearing your ideas! Ash Last edited by arcdef; 25-01-10 at 05:59 PM. Reason: Typo |

The slabbies have great character to ride, and there's a million spares for them. And undoubtedly a classic.
RGV250 (or maybe a TZR), because you won't have a laugh like it and they're simple to work on.

VFR400NC30 best 400.
As for complete strip down, RGV would be awesome though youd need to do it right. |

![]() All I'll say is get something you'll really want to ride. These projects have a tendency to take longer and more time and money than you first hope, so it's good if there's a real motivation behind it. |

Druid [1] The NC35 is a better bike but you'll struggle to get one within your budget and they never had the same appeal as the NC30 due to the cost and limited (in comparison) numbers.
