right as most know i was hit by a drunk driver and had to get a knee rebuild,
thing is now i cant walk more than about a mile without serious pain but this is a question about my job i am a security guard ,so this entails alot of walking about and standing for long periods which i just cant do anymore there are jobs within my employer where i wouldnt have to walk about (cctv) but these are like hens teeth, so where do i stand with my job ,as i am fit to return to work abit not my one, eg if i was an it worker id be fine does my employer have to offer me a differnt job, can they sack me, will i have to resign and try and find a new job (which is a very scary prospect) i am currently not being paid by work but by a personal sickness insurance (ssa finished a while ago) so am just managing to get by this is starting to give me a very uneasy feeling and the way my last year was ,im not exactly an optimest any advice welcome ps been of 7 months signed off sick for 2 more ssa finished a 6 weeks ago im bricking it |

Dave, I imagine they would want to keep you on...but in all reality, if they don;t have a position avaliable for you they might not be able to
![]() That being said, do ask your superior and ask elsewhere in the company (who is in charge of personell etc etc?) to find out what they could do for you. Remind them you are a loyal employee ![]() |

The delay in hearing the case might work in your favour as the extent of your injuries and any long-term disability become more apparent with every passing day.
You'll need medical reports describing the extent of the injuries sustained and what you can and can't do. You'll also need something from your employer describing the duties that you would be expected to do upon return to work. If your solicitor isn't already thinking along these lines then they should be shot. Chase 'em. Hassle 'em. Make a nuisance of yourself. Last edited by Jabba; 03-02-10 at 06:14 PM. |
