Default Weekend in London

Heading down to London for the weekend in Feb, got tickets for a show for the wife for xmas so we have a weekend to play in the big city.
Looking for recomendations, must sees, must do's etc. Also a decent (not extorcinate) restaurant for the friday night.

Oh, arriving early afternoon on the friday leaving sunday lunchtime and got the show on sat night so not a huge amount of time.

Thanks

Well you gotta come see us at Soho on the friday night mate, thats for sure. ven if its on the way somewhere.

What kind of food were you after, london is full of restaurants so its all about what you want as well as how much.
Also do you wanna stay pretty much in the west end or happy to bus/tube about a bit?

Food wise she doesn't do fish or japanese, anything else is fine, I however am a male carnivore like meat and lots of it, particular faves, mexican, mongolian and good old brit grub but quite happy to try something a bit different.
I'll get the address of where we are staying but quite happy to taxi / tube about a bit if required, the hotel is in chelsea if that helps.

Would love to stop by on the fridaynight to put some faces to names, but will have to be a quick vivit as technically this is her xmas pressie. or alternatively i may have a couple of spare hours on the sat afternoon as no doubt she'll want to hit the shops and i dont do shopping.

From a girly perspective:

Westfield is warmer than Oxford Street, but it is just your regular high Street stores. If you do go shopping on the Saturday in the West End then the area off Carnaby Street is worth a visit:

Up the road towards Tott Ct Road tube this place is good for a spot of pasta/pizza for lunch:

But then if you are staying in Chelsea there are plenty of shops around there and the Bluebird for lunch:

Or the Chelsea Bun, for breakfast, brunch, lunch depending on how early you get up:

Well from my memory there is naff all good restaurants in chelsea that aint pricey. The Kings Road trades on its name for tourists not its quality like some in the west end form my experience.
The west end is probably your best bet tbh, you got all of China Town (or is that too close to japanese for her?) as well as all the tourist type stuff within walking distance. Like Piccadilly Circus with its lights, Trafalgar Sq with its fountains and from there a short walk to Maj's Big Gaff if thats your thing.
And more restaurants than you can shake a stick at.

Willl try and think of a few good ones but my mind is blank at mo, lol.

And have a look at Time Out London for the up to date list of what's on, restaurant reviews etc.

Treacle and I went to this and it was brilliant:

Plus you can do the rest of the Museum and visit the dinosaur shop!

yeh the museums are great and well worth seeing while you're down here, i deffo second that.

And the bluebird cafe is good too as LPH says but from memory full of very pretentious types at night.

Last time I was there I bought some chocolate coated ants. But I'm off chocolate for January so won't be having any this week.
