I've done a pretty good job I think of cleaning them with green scourer, electric toothbrush, cream cleaner & plastic toothpicks. Just thought running them through the dishwasher could only help?

I wouldn't think so, as the salt used to soften the water wouln't do them any good?
Just a wild guess Stu

Well I wasn't overly impressed with how the calipers came out. not magically clean, but no damage that I can see, so I guess it helped.
The pistons improved somewhat, ready for polishing with autosol in the morning. There's one of the 12 that I really should replace, but meh, the pads are worn so hope most of the damage will protrude from the seals. So what happens when you service your bike at a dealer or any garage - what do they do to the calipers? just replace them with new? I can't see them going to all this time & effort. |

What are they? Tokico 6 pots? I've got an entire set of 12 steel pistons for them somewhere. I may even have 12 aluminium teflon coated ones as well. If you're interested I'll have a rummage in the garage at the w/e.

Yup Tokico 6 pots for the ZX6R, 7R, 9R etc. I've actually got another set in the garage as well I took off my 7R for Hayabusa pistons, that are probably only worth robbing parts off.
But that's very kind of you ![]() What are the teflon aluminium ones like compared to my (presumably) chromed steel ones? Is there any benefit if the steel ones are in good condition? |
