Default Freudian Theory

Does anyone have knowledge on Freudians theory with regards to the psychosexual stages of development?

My Diploma is asking me to identify possible things that could go wrong and how it could cause issues in later life.

I'm a little confused

Yes lots! I've just taught it to all my Year 12's!
3 major psychosexual stages in the first 7 years and basically if your main caregiver (ie mother) gets any of it wrong you will have a part of you stuck or 'fixated' in that stage as an adult.

Clearly there is much, much more to it than that. Too much to explain here, so have a look at

http://www.psychology4a.com/Approach...#Psychodynamic which is a very approachable site written by a psychology teacher for A level students.

But do also please remember that Freudian theory is not a part of mainstream psychology today and is generally not well thought of in clinical or educational situations.
