Default Helmet Cam - The Law

Just thought about helmet cams and wondered how clear the law is on them? For instance, would it be legal to simply duct tape a camera to the top of your helmet (not that I would ) and simply record like so or is it slightly more complex than that?

As far as I'm aware I don't think there is any legal implications. However there is the safety aspect to look at. If you come off your helmets not going to be as effective with something on it. Plus if you use any kind of adhesive on your helmet (weather it be tape or whatever) that could cause damage. Mind you I had a bullet camera stuck to my helmet for a period of time and I didn't have any problems.

years of wind tunnel research in to wind effect can clearly be seen in the use of shiny tape to aid air flow

Just don't look at the clocks!

Police here have taken to having a peek at the vids if you're stopped, so most cams are bike mounted somewhere...usually out of sight and deffinately not showing the speedo.

Not illegal .....but a big cam taped to your lid would be just asking to be stopped IMHO.

+1. The video evidence would be admissible.
