Hi there, hope i don't end up sounding like a lazy so'n'so, i've been searching for weeks now and i can't find a difference between the 2009 sv faired and 2010. I'm looking to buy from new (first new bike) i've been quoted from my local dealer £4995 for a 2010, he said he can't price match a cheaper 2009 sv650 because they aren't the same.
Can anyone help me? the cheapest i've found a 2009 sv650 fully faired is £4499 is that still quite a lot? i'm looking to get it on finance and they only offer it on the fully faired sv. |

I don't beleive there are any differances, apart from maybe colour schemes.
save yourself a bunch of money anyway, go find an excellent condition used curvy (1999-2002) model. they are the best ones anyway... ![]() Perhaps you can talk to another dealer? |

I'm with ASH, except get a pointy to the envy of the curvy lovers.

Although the dealer is right not to price match a 2009 model because an older model will always be worth less even if it's not used. "first new bike" - so what you had before? IMO £5K or £4.5K is a lot of money for an SV as I'm happy to buy 2nd hand - depends on the value you put on getting a new one. Sorry don't know of any better deals though. |

If you're buying a new bike for the new bike feeling do it with something better than an SV And I did buy a new one By the first service at 600m a new one will look exactly the same as one two years old that's been cared for properly Save your cash and buy a used but cared for model, take someone with you if you're unsure of what to look for and you'll be fine ![]()

Thing is i'm just about to start my new job, and i have been reading quite a few threads on here about curvey and pointy. I'd rather get a new bike as i've never had a brand new bike or car. I like the idea of getting the 2 years manufacturer warrenty, last bike i had was a '03 cbr600rr and 3 weeks after getting it got a stone in the rad through the guard, then things just kept spiraling out of control with fixing stuff. Might sound like all i need to do is shop around for a solid second hand bike, but might be the last chance to have something new before kids and morgages start appearing on the scene.

I bought mne new as well but a grand less than they are now, wouldn't pay 5 grand for one. New bikes are nice but you will have the frustrating job of running it in.

I've got a bit fed up with bum in the air bikes had my fair share of them and although i'd love to buy something more fitting the this kind of money, with commuting and travelling i think it's a better fit, and also have a laugh. Was looking at the orange company but they wanted even more money and didn't feel any better on a test than the SV

I also know the feeling of seeing each new scratch appear in the paintwork of the SV And the feeling of seeing my 4 week old daytona lying in a ditch after we went tarmac surfing Bought the ADV at two years old, yes it has meaty crash bars but I've dropped it a handful of times now and couldn't give a toss, it had scratches when I bought it so now it only has a couple more... 'Sup to you though mate, if you definitely want new then haggle hard on the fact that the Gladius has "superceeded" the SV annd if they won't budge on price then get them to chuck stuff in for nothing/half price etc
