Question In the Market for a New Helmet

So far I have had an AGV K3 - Wrong head shape, poor fit.
Arai Condor - Bought it from J & S Accessories so no UK warranty support.
HJC FG-15 - What a pile of rubbish. This helmet is useless in the rain, rain ends up on the inside of the visor. Also I am going deaf because it is so noisy.

I liked my Arai Condor, but an official UK version will set you back up to £300.
I quite like the look of the Shark S800 but I don't want to make another mistake like the HJC, are they any good. I tried one on, it was a good fit.

Thanks
Tim.

Give a Scorpion a serious look in, they are fantastic helmets and are guaranteed not to fog up.

I have just bought a new shoei XR1100.

It's considerably better than my old XR1000.

I did a mini review somewhere, everything on it has been improved over the XR1000 which was bloody good anyway.

Think it cost me £380ish.

Use the above mob more than a few times. Excellent service. The replica Arai visors are poor though.

I have an Arai RX7 - Comfy, light, great visor, good venting in summer, nice chin flap to keep out a bit more wind.....

I HAD (still in loft actually) a special edition S800. It was comfy......in the shop. But, heavy, still quite noisy, less ventilation....but.....the visor was the worst point!!!

The visor points are a push button type and can break (don't in all cases, but both mine and Lily's did). Also, travelling on the motorway once, we had the dark outer visors down as it was dusk......once darkness hit, I popped the dark part up. Then approx 15 seconds later, the wind caught the sun visor and whipped the visor open causing the connectors to crack.

Personally, I would save up and get either Shoei or Arai. But thats me. If you do want something cheaper, then I guess you just need to go try everything on below a price range. Just to make you aware, a mate of mine picked up an Arai RX7 at last years bike show for £285. Bargains can be had if you shop around and are not too fussy on colours. Also, if you have either a tiny head or mahooosive head it often works in your favour as the sale helmets tend to be in these sizes.

I've heard good things about the newer shark stuff.....and also the more pricey shark stuff......but the S800 is now old hat.
