Default Anybody know anybody with a new ZX10R

I need to find out what the stock damping and rebound settings are for a 2009 ZX10R shock, from a E8F/E9F model.

I can't find it on any forums, have asked on ZX10R.net, and can't find any download links for the owners or service manual, which are not broken or unreadable PDF's.

I want to get this shock fitted and the bike back on the road this weekend, in time for the Abersoch rideout next weekend.

Just to clarify; are you fitting this shock to an SV? If so the standard settings are irrelevant.

+1 to the squid.

Set the damping adjusters to the middle of their range and set the static sag to 10mm and see where the total sag ends up.

That's a sensible place to start.

OK, I thought the standard would be a good place to start, but WTF do I know about it? I just didn't want to put a shock on that was totally set up wrong.

Middle of the range it is.

High and low speed compression and rebound, all to middle of range?

HSC 1/3 of the way out from full hard
LSC halfway then see how it feels

Important thing is sag setting to get spring in working range.

Thanks, at least that lets me get the shock on the bike, I'm not sure how easy it will be to adjust once the reservoir is half way into the battery box.

On mine you can get to it easily. Leave small infill panels off until you get it where you want it.
Adjuster you are looking at for comp. is on casting between body and reservoir.

You need the sag setting with it on the bike. That is biggest thing for initial feel... too much preload = no sag and it tops out everywhere and kicks your ****. Too little and you may bottom it very easily and it will feel crap. You also run lower in the stroke so get less anti-squat and it feels to dig in under power.

Adjusting preload is a PITA with those shocks, no real way around that sadly.

Wait until you try adjust rebound with hot exhaust, that's fun!
