Suzuki FZ50 - SV650.org

Someone I know has one of these sitting in a shed, which it has done for the last 15-20 years (at least). Its a fairly tidy example and wants only a few beans for it.

Question is, why do I feel drawn to rescuing a moped from a barn and does anyone have any experience with these? I would imagine it would need a little work to get it running, and then the question is does it get modified or returned to standard?

Shoehorn an R1 engine into it.

As long as it's complete and doesn't need you to go looking for obscure parts for an obsolete moped, why not? As it's a two stroke it couldn't be whole lot simpler whatever's wrong with it.
If you live in town even a 50 can be useful transport.

Ragging - that's what it wants! They love it!

In seriousness, standard is best for selling it, but modified is more fun.

rob i had one of these back in early 80's...very reliable, parts are still available

...exhausts were known to rot tho...good for 35mph..if its cheap cheap, id go for it

If it's free and needs less than 100 quid to get it back on the road I'd do it. Anymore and it's time and money down the drain.
