Default CBR600 Question

Im off tomorrow to look at a '2001 Honda Cbr 600 f1'. The pictures which I have seen of it, it is the pgm-f1 fairing. But there is no pgm-f1 decal on the bike.

Would the v5 state if it is the pgm-f1?

Any advice would be great as im just wondering if the fairing has been swapped over at some point and im buying a normal 600f and not the f1.

Thanks

You mean pgm-fi, I guess?

It just means it's fuel injected, it's not a special edition or anything. The CBR600F had fuel injection from 2001, carbs before that (obviously). It'd be a bit of an effort to change over the fairing on a 99-00 (carb) model, which is the one that had the same body (apart from the front). Could be done, though.

The dash on a fuel injected model has a digital speedo with analogue rev counter, the carb models have both speedo and rev counter as analogue clocks.

His ad says F1 but yes after a bit of googling he must have meant FI.

Thanks Muffles, cleared that up lovely for me as it does have a digital speedo! Not sure why the decal has been taken off the front but nevermind...

Because it's damn near 10 years old and a lot happens to vehicles in that time. If you want original and unmolested, buy new.

By 'F1' he could have meant the year - 2001. It's a bit confusing but each CBR has a year designator, i.e. FX = 99, FY = 2000, then they went to numbers instead of letters so F1 = 2001, F2 = 2002, etc.

However there's also a 'generation' designator which conveniently is F + number and they range from F1-F4, F4 being the FX (year designator!) onwards.

Anyway the above is fairly irrelevant as long as you are sure of the year etc
