Hi all
got a few things I need to ask about etc and hope you can all help. MOT my MOT is due in a couple of months and I would like to know what they test and what I need to make sure definitely works or what I definitely need to get it to pass the MOT. Also on top of that I have a renegade race can and a hack sawed stock can and I don稚 have the funds to go out and but a road legal one. Is there anyone that would be kind enough to allow me to borrow their can for my MOT, I知 a very trust worthy person and can assure you that you値l have it back in one piece. RUST AND SQUEEKING Basically my bikes starting to look like a heap of ****. I need to wd40 some bits and bobs which is no problem. My forks are getting rusty! I cant stand seeing it but the tops of my forks have rusting, if anyone knows how to get rid of this rust and stop it from happening again that would be great. Rear shock: am I going to take this off to get the black **** off? Heel plates: they池e getting a tad worn out, is there anything I can do to get them nice again? Hope someone can help as I have been stupid and may have neglected my bike for a little while and I知 paying the price. Cheers Perry |

As far as the MOT is concerned, this is the test criteria.
A bolt in baffle should be enough to get threw the test, about 」10 of ebay, if you don't have any luck borrowing a stock one. WD40 isn't going to do anything for rust on a bike apart from make it wet, either ACF50 or if it's bad something like Krust rust will help, but generally elbow grease and cleaning is your best bet for light surface stuff. Heel plate options are either polish them up, or paint/powdercoat them. Cheers Mark.

Hi Mark,
Not much to an MOT is there! thanks for that link. Will a bolt in baffle be enough? its not E marked. are the bolt in baffles universal? and will i have to drill a whole to use it? the WD40 was for the squeeky bits. is the ACF50 to protect it after its been cleaned up? will Murr and some work get rid of the rusting? How much would getting the rear sers coated cost? Cheers |

That can will go through an MOT no worries, I should know

ACF50 does a wonderful job on the protection front, but will also kill very light oxidation as well, dealing with rust much depends to what degree it is, very bad stuff will require rubbing back to bare metal and addressing from that point, where as light stuff simply rubbing (any mildly abrasive polish, or T cut even) will remove it. As to cost for coating the rearsets, well it depends how you go about it really, ball park, top wack sending them away to be powder coated 」30 or so, in a paint shop using tough 2-pak say 」15-20, Halfords Matt black spray 」5.99, and polished up just your efffort. Cheers Mark.
