Just wondering if a wider rear tyre than the standard 160 can be fitted.

It won't do anything for the handling, if just for looks then look into the kits for sale. You can get them from Twin works factory racing to fit a late model GSXR rear wheel.
Then you can fit 180 section tyre without it pinching and becoming weird.

Going for a sh*t before you ride affects the handling.
A 180 on a 5.5 rim is OK, won't hurt the handling. The Sv has a 4.5" rim, it is not perfect for the 160 without squeezing owt else onto it.

now following up on this, i was wikipedia(ing) the sv1000 last night when i noticed that the rear tyre is a 180 width, also with a better looking and better built swinging arm imo. could a sv1000 rear end like swingarm & wheel be fitted to a sv650?
thanks |
