Default Mobile phone mounts

Anyone have any recommendations for mobile phone mounts? All I've come across is RAM mount and that's basically a big plastic box, which isn't very appealing.

I'm planning on using my Nokia e71 as a sat nav now Nokia have free GPS and turn-by-turn directions for all their phones. Not worried about waterproofing because I'd put my phone in a tankbag then, just want something that'll clamp to the bars and make the phone nice and visible in good weather. Bonus if it gives access to the charging socket so I can run the phone off the bike's battery.

If you want it to be visible and vibration free, then you need one of these. Its neat and is not as ugly as most RAM mounts. Plus you can route any wiring under the tank.

There's links to sites that sell this and mounts for you phone. But this is the mount that's recommended by a lot of folk

The problem with that is it looks like you have to use the case sold by RAM Mount, which is a horribly ugly plastic box that doesn't let you use the keys on your phone. I'm really looking for something that's similar to the cradles you can get for cars but that'll hold the phone tight at high speeds.

The car type holders may not hold the phone solid when the mount vibrates around, you run the risk of losing it should it work loose

Someone on PH sent their Zumo flying down the road because they'd not used the small screw on their motorcycle mount, making it essentially the same as the car mount...

+1

Do that with my phone - it's my phone, mp3 player, sat nav, etc.

Sometimes stick it in tank bag or under the seat connected to power if it's going to be a long day out.

I do the same with my Iphone, goes in my jacket pocket and with earphones in. The Tom Tom software just cuts the music, gives directions and then puts the music back on. I am well impressed with it. I have also got a car lighter socket piece under the pillion seat so can run a lead up into my tank bag or jacket to keep the phone going when we go over to France etc.

Unfortunately listening to the directions isn't possible for me because I'm deaf. I need to be able to see the screen.

Bearing what the Lone Wolf said in mind, I'm probably going to have to check out the Givi bag Daninplymouth linked. I have a feeling that plastic screen will reflect sunlight badly and make it impossible to see the directions.
