Rattling engine sound - SV650.org

Hi,

I have noticed my bike has developed a rattling noise, however it only happens when I am off throttle and the clutch is out. I only hear it at lower speeds, but that might be because of wind noise etc.

I have looked it up in the trusty haynes manual and there were 6 possible reasons, most of which related to lack of lubricant in parts. I know my oil level is fine, however sometimes when i start my bike, i dont leave it long to warm up because of local residents. Could that be a reason?

Any suggestions?

what are your chain and sprockets like?
off power and clutch out = engine braking, maybe your front sprocket is goosed?

worth checking first. :0)

or it might be your cam chain adjuster.
