Default bodging it together

ok folks, i have a problem. now theres a correct solution to it but im a bit wary about it....

ok on the side of the bike theres a breather cover this bolts to the crankcase with 8 bolts and 2 location dowels.

http://cid-df1dfa6c95a90e25.skydrive...20breather.jpg

like that,

the top two bolts also holt the rad cowl on. Unfortunatly these are stripped and the hole (i know it doesnt look like it) goes into the crankcase on these two tappings and is sealed by a copper washer on the outside of the cover. With the threads being stripped i can not get compression on the washer and so theres a leak around the bolts...

now the correct solution is to helicoil these. I know that but i am very worried about drilling and tapping this area as im concerned any swarf could very easily ruinmy engine!!!

sooo your thourgths please? im currently considering filling it with araldite or locktite and pushing the bolts home. I can then simply reglue them back in if i ever need to take it appart again? I know it should be helicoiled but im seriously worried about getting this done...

Degrease the casing and mask it off with tape?

no, but he'll probably give you a decent alternative.

It wouldn't touch the camchain... alloy swarf onto a steel chain.

But the chain acts like a conveyor belt to move crap up into the head... it is right to avoid swarf getting there!

No she means I hate people killing Triumphs actually.

Don't you dare, no riding it with a stetson either. the two holes go into the cam chain tunnel, so push a bit of oil damped rag behind and tap them out (with helicoils or course), if you are particularly self conscious about it, use a vacuum when drilling and a hand drill (as in non electric) for more control, but as the swarf will be silver (against the black it'll be very easy to see, for an extra precaution (although you shouldn't need it), drain the oil afterwards and then mix 1/3 pertol to oil (about half a pint should be more than enough) and wash any tiny bits away, leave it to stand for 10 minutes then fill with oil as normal.
