Can anyone recommend some decent made to measure leathers.
Tried off the peg but being 5'10" and short legs, 27", and short arms. Also the wok I'm smuggling means getting bigger jackets to fit around the wok also means very long arms, which end up dragging along the floor almost. Help!!

Hideout, MW. There are quite a few makers - not cheap though.

Joyda leathers - they will do made to measure as well as customise off the peg leathers to fit you better (where possible).
http://www.joydaleathers.com/ http://www.joyda.fsnet.co.uk/ I've used them for reparing stuff I bought from HG's website (HG used to use them for warranty claims etc) and a mate had some Dainese trousers altered for him. Last edited by Nobbylad; 23-03-10 at 11:33 AM. |

I have some hideout made to measure and can't fault them. If I destroyed them somehow, I'd buy the same ones again from them.
And as an added incentive, they will do them in the colours and style that takes your fancy. I think it was them that did some in white, with big collars and rhinestones, a la Elvis. With the wok smuggling, you'd probably make quite a good vegas-era Elvis. Thang yeer veeey muuuurrrch. |

Fair do's, my mate bought ones from Branded who have now gone bust, to be honest I'm not convinced they did a very good job, and he asked Hideout to let them out. It cost him £300 and they made a mess of it. Perhaps they couldn't do any more with what they were given but it's a lot of money for a ****-up.

Indeed! A company should be measured by their reaction to when things go wrong - what happened with your mate?
I got something bought from them as a present and I got the wrong one (wasn't sure if the wrong one was ordered, or the wrong one sent, but I spoke to them and they didn't bat an eyelid - it was resolved very quickly with no fuss. |

I'm a bit short on detail to be honest, and he's a bit of a disaster magnet. He sent them back to branded a number of times and eventually they more or less fitted. Branded then shut down and I think he put on some weight or something. He took them and himself to Hiedout who measured him themselves, did the work, and I think they went back a couple more times to them as he couldn't even do them up. That's all I know about them, seemed a bit poor when they had him there to measure up.

I've always had great service form Hideout. I have recommended a number of people to go there, all of whom have been very pleased with the results.
That said, if your mate is not happy with the service they gave that also should be known.

For information, today I have been to BTK Leathers of Nottingham to look at what they make and the quality etc, I have been measured and selected a style/colour to suit me (excuse punn). VERY impressed with their thoroughness in measuring and advise as what is needed.
They obviously have samples in the shop of finished and in the making. I have to go back in 3/4 weeeks for a fitting and then await completion another 2/3 weeks. They will make what YOU want and not off the peg adapted. When complete I will update as to satisfaction or otherwise but initial impressions are, very good value for money and made to measure in particular whan an unusual shape ME. Pricing, I have ordered a suit with almost ALL of the extra's including 2 colour and will still get change from £400. Yes I accept that the quality may be slightly lower than others, but the quality of the materials is very good and I believe that I can tell the difference in leathers as it was one of the products I used in an earlier life? www.btkleathers.com JOHN |
