Default Which tyres? (round black ones).

First of all hi as i've recently purchased an SV650 K6 so i can commute to and from work.
my questions are what size tyres can be used on the standard rims??
What size do people here use on the road??
Thanks

Steve

The standard sizes the bike comes with is best. I never found that I had a problem with the standard size tyres on my SV.

However...

You can swap the front for a 120/70 as opposed to the 120/60 which alters the steering, have a search for threads on it as its been covered a few times.

On the rear its best and safest to stick with the 160 width tyre the bike comes with if you are keeping the standard rear wheel to. Anything wider is pinched on the rim.

It is possible to fit a wheel off of a Bandit which will allow you to fit a wider rear 180 width tyre. Again have a search its been covered plenty of times.

Why so they can tell you to buy whoever gave more free sh*t?

120/70 or 120/60 is fine on front... 120/60 occasionally cheaper as less 'desirable'
Stick to 160 or 150 rear. You can use 180 if you really want but the handling goes really quite odd... fine to commute on though if you've got free scrubs in 170 or 180.

Good morning all..

It would be best to stick to standard sizes in these days of insurance companies copping out of claims. If you were to have an accident with a non standard size tyre fitted, it would give them the 'perfect' excuse to wiggle out of it.

Cheers.

It does "work" in a pinch (ba-dum-tsch!!) But handles badly and as spanner man says isn't a particularly good idea if you are inclined on crashing into things.

I liek avon storm ST, they last 8000 miles or so, so not like it is expensive per mile.
