Default Pinlocks

Had a pinlock on my X-Lite helmet for over a year now and it's not working as well as it used to, in fact it seems to fog up more than the rest of the visor.

I think this may be down to the fact I keep changing it from my clear to my tinted visor.

Anyway went on race visors to buy another one and I see there is an option to buy one with a silicone bead or one without.

Anyone know which is best?

My X-lite is the same, but not used it for a while, been using the Caberg.

I would have said the one with the bead but will be watching this to see the different arguments

I have been told previously the one with the silicone bead forms a much better seal around the pinlock edge.

However, just so you know, I've swapped my tinted / clear one well over a 100 times now (due to commuting) and I've never had a problem with it.

I had the same problem and replaced with the beaded pinlock there normally £22 from the Nolan dealers
I've had no problems with the new one just make sure the pins are adjusted on the visor

The pinlock don't seem to like being swapped constantly. I'm ordering a tinted pinlock for my clear visor to save aggro

What exactly do you mean by that? Does it fit differently to the notmal pinlock?

Do you have to apply the silicone yourself?

nope the two small plastic pins that hold the pinlock in place are adjustable and have to me moved in or out dependant on the pinlock.

The pic shows the insert mount in the right corner just away from the hing point

The silicone bead is apart of the insert and the inside of the visor has to be very clean prior to changing

if they fit.

i've been told that these things can get 'saturated' which seemed to happen to me in the winter during that really cold period. i bought another and let the other one dry out for a few days, put it back in and has been fine since. i just swaped them every few days.

Yer, can't get on with sunglasses, everytime I move my head to pull out of a junction they get pushed halfway down my nose. Also I wouldn't want extra bits of plastic rattling around my face in the event of an off.

I haven't ridden much over the colder period due to afore mentioned tartness but I will try and dry it out, see if that works.
