Daytona ladystar or something simmilar(?)

Hi,
A friend of mine is starting biking but is struggling with reaching the ground a bit. We've lowered the seat a bit but I think she could do with a bit more. She doesn't have proper boots yet, so I've suggested Daytona Ladystar's. The problem is they cost about 300 pounds. Is there some sort of alternative to these?

One other thing, do you get enough feedback at gear changes and when trying to reach the ground in these raised boots?

I have the ladystar boots but when I was looking I couldn`t find any alternatives so had to pay the £300. I have to say they make a huge difference... it takes some getting used to at first as you have to lift your feet that bit higher to get them on the pegs... is an odd feeling and I also feel sometimes like i`m riding with my knees by my ears!

I can`t say that I noticed any difference at all in gear changes and reaching the ground is a huge bonus. That is where the boots are a godsend... with the built up heels i find it much easier to move the bike around when stopped and I don`t have to climb off and haul it around. They also gave me a lot more confidence with slow maneouvering as I know that unless i`m on a steep hill I can get my feet down quickly if necessary and keep the bike balanced and upright.

I don`t think that everyone realises it but when you are vertically challenged and the bike starts to tip over it`s a real struggle to pull the bike back into an upright position. You reach a certain point and you know you`re not going to recover it so you have to let it drop. There`s been countless occasions when had I not been wearing my ladystars I would have dropped my bike but those extra couple of inches meant I had more weight behind me to pull the bike back into an upright position.

Tell your friend that despite them being expensive i`ve found them a real bonus, very best of luck to her.

Just a thought but is her bike an SV? if so what about larger dogbones... that makes a huge difference to the height.

Ah, that's also what I meant, so just a matter of getting used to then.

I've managed to drop the SV once because I was reverse walking and stepped onto a drain hole cover which was a bit lower...

Bike's a CBR125 - yes she is really small - the shock is bolted to the swingarm, so dogbones are not an option.
There's a Girls bike2 shop nearby so we might pop in sometime, maybe they'll have something.

No worries and I meant to mention last night that if she`ll be at GMIII she`s welcome to try my boots if they`d fit her? It`s a lot of money to pay out so she needs to be sure she`s going to find them helpful which i`m sure she will as it`s like having a 2 inch heel on your bike boot!

I`m a size 5 normally but the boots are a size 4 as I was advised that Daytonna are rather generous with their sizing.

Appreciate the offer but she won't be at the GM, we'll just probably head out to a GB2 shop.

On a different note, somebody just phoned me to say they've past their CBT

get her a Raptor. I could reach the ground with tippy toes on curvey sv, not a chance on some pointy models. On raptor im both feet down and knees soft not exactly bent. I have a 27 inch inside leg. Im tall when I sit down

Hehe, see how she gets on with the 125, if she continues to a full license, maybe she'll buy herself one

Aaa.. you mean the 125 Rappy?
Took me ages to convince her against an RS125 so don't think a naked bike would be it.
