Ok so as you have probably guessed from the title ive got a puncture in my 1500mile old rear roadsmart. I'm not happy about this!
Sooo first question, can it be repaired? Bearing in mind im intending to do at least one track day on this as well as the AR and various other rides i want it doing right! secondly its a sharp stone thats done the damage and ive picked it up about 100 yards from my house. Its from the recent road resurfacing thats gone on and they have left a fair amount of loose stones on the road. I complained about this after they had done it and they assured me it would be "sweaped" however this has not been 100% successful. So would it be possible for me to claim for a new tyre? cheers folks, ![]() |

I thought you had punctured your balls, I expected to see blood and gore and am now disappointed..........
I'm leaving this thread until it improves. |

Wheres the hole ?
Some garages wont repair a Z rated tyre, and some will. If its in the middle of the tyre and the tyre has good life in it, I suspect its possible to find somebody to repair it properly with a mushroom style plug. I've had a tyre repaired this way and it was fine afterwards. Dont Avon do a deal on their tyres whereas if you get a puncture and stil have 4mm of tread or something similar you can get a replacement tyre at reduced cost ? It might not be Avon that do it though, but one of the tyre manufacturers does.

Andy, If the hole is in the centre 2/3rd its repairable with a Mushroom plug and it'll be fine for the track day. Tyre will have to be removed to do it though.
Must have been a bloomin sharp stone to puncture the tyre! I had a Conti Road attack repaired and gave it the beans, two up, for the rest of its life and it was fine. C Last edited by Berlin; 21-07-10 at 05:30 PM. |

Thats more than likely a disclaimer or a bottom covering exercise, get ringing round your local tyre places and speak to them and see what they say.

dont believe the first person who tells you that. i rode round leeds all day on a flat front before i found someone who'd patch mine up. they put a tube in it for something like 20 quid. still fine after about 4000 miles.
wouldnt be entirely sure about taking it on a track day but then again i have done long journeys on it at reasonable pace and on bad roads, so probly be areet. |

You would have to prove it was caused by the road surface near your house

Rob won't repair it for you Andy, he doesn't believe in doing it. Unless of course you are exceedingly lucky that day
Should have bought the Avons ![]() I got a puncture within 8 miles of having the rear tyre fitted last week on the Raptor by a five inch nail, and I got one freeeeeeee ![]() However I have to say, you only get this under the Avon deal, one tyre, per set. So it better not bleddy happen again!!!!!!!
