Oil for CBR600RR - SV650.org

Sorry to post this but all the CBR forums are either USA or dead! and I know you're a helpful lot!

Got a CBR600RR that I've had since 600 miles. Am looking to do the second oil change now at 2,500 miles (next service in Nov but am going on a trip).

All the yank forums recommend Shell Rotella T as the oil of choice but that's too tricky to get here. Then there's Mobil 1 but they all contain moly**** and the manual says to avoid.

What is the oil of choice for you lot? Manual calls for 10w-40 which as I recall is the same for the SV.

in guessing it is a rr6 or later.

Semi synth 10-40 is the recomended for the sv.
I would say spend the cash and use the castrol £33 a gallon at halfrauds

It's a 2006. Fully synth I think is what it needs, reading up on the oils, semi synth is a gimmick? Should be one or the other.

Shall I use the castrol racing fully synth?

dont use car oil (unless its a dry clutch then you can)

if you use cheep oil then you just have to change it more often. halfuds do a decent range.

Always used Halfords semi-synth motorbike oil and over 10's of thousands of miles I've never had a problem (apart from falling off but that's a different story)

Yamaha Thundercat
Honda Fireblade
Honda Blackbird

fullys are polymers from the crude oil and semis more crude oil

for the price difference between cheap and good (£15 quidish) i would go to halfrauds and get the castrol
