Default First 'ride out'.

I have managed to get myself a day off work tomorrow, with my only current commitment being a trip to the local tyre place in my car. After that, I am free to do what I want as my son is at school and mt sister in law (to be) is having my daughter.

I was thinking of having a ride (from Stanley/Consett area) to Stanhope and then onto Alston/Hartside.

I only passed my test on Tuesday, so I haven't been out on my 'big bike' (SV650s) much. I have been riding since January on my 125, so I am not a complete novice and I holiday in Cumbria, so I have driven that route a few times.

I am happy to take it at my own pace, I won't be pushed into going quicker than I am comfortable with, I have my protective gear and I am relatively familiar with the route (basically know the way and that's about it).

Bearing that in mind, any tips? Would I be best off chosing another place? Anything I should be taking with me?

Just take it at your own pace - you have already said you wont be pushed into going quicker than your happy with, which is totally the right attitude - no matter how long you have been riding. Just take some money in cash form and card for emergencies and make sure your phone is fully charged - other than that - have fun!

maybe take a local map, if unsure of area?

If you get bikers behind you, just wave them past you, they wont mind, and will probably appreciate it anyway.. Is there anybody that can come with you for moral support?

Have a great day out, its going to be a nice day.

Thanks for the advice on waving other bikers by. I have some emergency petrol money, but will take extra and some for a cup of tea etc.

I am confident enough by myself, plus, I quite fancy some time alone, so hoping for a relaxing time.

Are you sure you're the father?
In some states incest is frowned upon, in others applauded.
Tips:
Don't waste time on the bike - find a good brief.
. . & take some codnoms with you!
As others have said, take care, but whatever you do . . .
HAVE FUN!
ps: ignore me.

PMSL @ Puny

All I take out with me for a bimble is enough money for fuel and cuppas and a bit extra 'just in case' (depends how far you plan on going though really) And I take my phone (with RAC number in lol)

oohh and I sometimes take my ipod to listen to some tunes. depends on how the mood takes me.

Have a great time - Im out for a bimble too tomorrow - not sure where yet, see where I end up.

Just be aware some places are mobile blackspots, When my mate rode into a drystone wall on his first proper ride, I had to leave him/bike to ride a few miles down the road to call the recovery. I would always suggest when riding in the wilderness, do it with someone who can render first aid, call recovery or get the brews in when you exit the wilderness.
