Default Straightening a bent wheel - who and where?

My SV650s k7 failed its first MOT due to the front wheel having an excessively distorted head rim. The irony is that in the past my 30 year old + RS100 always past its MOTs and I was so confident that my relatively new SV would pass. Serves me right for being overtly confident and I’m annoyed with myself for not having noticed the bump on the rim. I remember way back in April hitting a stone that almost threw me off and I suspect it was that impact that caused the damage.

Anyway, finding a replacement wheel that isn’t going to set me back a fortune is proving to be a problem. Delkevic do wheels for the SV1000 for £149.99 but unfortunately do not do any for the SV650. There is presently a K9 wheel selling on ebay for around £220. Before going to this kind of expense I decided to try and see if I could get the wheel fixed by a specialist. However, finding a motorcycle alloy wheel repairer is almost like looking for a needle in a haystack. To cut a long story short, I managed to find a company in Bridgend (not far from where I live) called Renowheel who are willing to try and straighten it. The person who I met and spoke to cann’t guarantee that he can fix it but is willing to give it a go. If he does fix it then I’ll let you know as I appreciate that such skills these days are so difficult to source. Finally, if any of you have had a similar problem and can help with useful suggestions I would be grateful.

Thanks SoulKiss. Motoliner appear to have all the technical wizardry and I may give them a try if all else fails. For the time being I'll see what the more primitive set-up of Renowheel can do as I have only have a week left for the MOT re-test. As for being rear-ended, words fail me!

I'd leave the repair to a company who specialize in motorcycle wheels

I will give Hagon a ring although I'm pretty sure they only repair classic spoked wheels.

Website doesn't mention it, but their advert in this months Ride says they do cast wheel repairs. Prices from £74.95

If you're concerned about the price of sending your wheel, then I've used this company many times for heavy and awkward items. Prices are really good and they collect from your door. Plus its tracked

This guy repairs damaged wheels. I remember him saying Ducati ones are so soft (or were so at the time) he was forever fixing them. I don't know if he still does this as it's a few years since I went there. HTH and Good Luck. Nick
