Hi there. I recently had an accident on my SV that was no fault of my own >.<
Now I have bought a new Kawasaki ZX-6R, and I need to drain the petrol out of my SV as it's a full tank, and I don't want to waste it :P Please could someone give me advise on draining the tank? (P.S, if anyone is interested in any parts on an 04 Bronze SV, message me on jambo3@hotmail.co.uk, and I will see what I got :3) Regards James |

how long has the fuel been in your sv?
if longer than 6 months i wouldn't use it in a bike, but would in a car |

Fook knows. I took off the filler cap and the fuel pump and still couldn't get it out. Well, not without sloshing it all over the place. Might be worth trying to get the pump running then just put the pipe in to your ninja's tank

siphon it out, put tank up on a shelf, get a hose pipe, put your lips round it and suck!
when you gag put hose into a suitable container |

First of all, the petrol has been in there for a week, so it's pretty new stuff!
Second of all, I can't seem to get that casing off from the hinge. It's got a black casing thing over the 4 bolts, and can't pry it off. :S If I was able to get the thing off, I have a very large coned nozzle thingy to tip it into :3 Thanks for your replies none the less ![]() ![]() |

The way i drained mine was took it off, put a piece of pipe on the outlet from the pump, other end in a container, then kept turning ignition on and off and that keeps pressurising the fuel system so runs the pump for a bit.
If you turn the tank up to the right angle you can get 99% out of it. Its actually very easy. |
