I need a little bit of help with my tyres.i am unsure of the correct pressures to have. I mostly carry a pillion on the rear and together with gear on we way about 20stone. On the rear is a conti road attack and on the front is an avon somthin or other. Just like to know the correct pressures to have with the weight of the two of use. Also suspension settings on the rear aswell would come in handy. If anyone knows please share

Most manufacturers recommend 36F and 42R. Sounds ideal if you carry a pillion.
Having said that I tend to run 28F and 36R. I prefer the feel. Figures in PSI.

As admin says 36F 42R is the usual for carrying a pillion, how come you have two different makes of tyres, not usually reccommended.

iirc suzuki recommend 33f 36 rear, i tend to run at 34 front 38 rear, jack the rear shock up a couple of notches from standard and see how it feels.

I run with 36f and 36+R (at 14 stone)
and play with the settings on the shock I would start at a twos up setting and tune to what feels best

I run 42 Rear on Avon Storm Ultra 2 and 36 Front , I get good grip and mileage , carry pillions and luggage and I`m a bit of a bruiser . I never change the settings come rain or shine and leave them like that all year round .

As you can see above, Tyre pressure is a very personal thing. It'd be far better to try various pressures and find the ones that suit you
Start at the recommended 33 front 36 rear (cold) and go from there. C |

I used to run 33F, 36R as recommended by Suzuki. I tweeked the suspension front and rear to within one of full preload. I now run 36F, 42R. This takes a bit of gettign used to as it makes the bike feel very firm, but I prefer it as the factor settings always felt too spongy to me. |

If you're running pillion 36r is too low IMO. The reason most people drop pressures is for increased contact patch however this is only practical if you're riding at pace or on the track. For road use I would always stick with the manufacturers guided pressures.
At low pressures, your tyre will flex even more under the weight of a pillion causing increased wear and possibly stability. Suzuki's "recommended" setting might only cover a certain tyre. The manufacturer's know best as they do all the testing so I personally stick to their advice. 42r is the manufacturers recommended road setting. As said before you'll need to crank up your rear shock a couple of nothces to compensate for the extra ride weight. |
