im told by a friend and online in a few places that insurance is changing to 50 groups rather than 20 this year, and that prices are very likely to go up. I was thinking of buying an R6 this year and am having to reconsider now.
Anyone know if this is the case? |

There was something in the paper saying its all going to go up 15%-20% but I think the reason that they gave was due to the amount of money the insurance companies are paying out through these "no win no fee" solicitors.

Claims have risen in number and average amount
All the snow caused a big spike in accidents Both mine went down significantly this year though, so take it with a pinch of salt and shop around...

Mines gone up by £200 with direct line, despite me turning 21.
Girlfriends has gone up by about £200 with direct line, despite turning one and gaining another years No Claims. Brothers has gone up by £300 (almost double) despite being 24 and earning his 3rd No Claims. Insurance is a rip off nowadays! |

The stock market hasn't had a very good time so their cash pile has shrunk. They've also had a lot of claims over the winter. Rather than shrink bonuses and cut payouts to shareholders they have decided to raise premiums. Simples.

Insurance companies are designed to factor for all circumstances; that is, they set their prices to accommodate a heavy winter with lots of claims prior to the actual event.
Raising their prices is just another blow in this economical situation, the B****rds! |

It was just a renewal with no alterations as far as im aware. If it wasnt so darned icy with chance of snow in the winter i'd get rid of the car.
