Default Front brake reservoir change questions.

Changing the reservoir tommorrow. Got tools. Got oil. Got rags. Need top tips! For example, do I need to apply the front brake and tywrap the lever to the grip before I remove the old reservoir? I'm hoping to get away without having to drain the whole shebang...

if you did that when you loosened the banjo fluid would spray everywhere

loosen the m/cyl banjo, use a cloth/pastic bag to stop brake fluid destroying paint/plastics

unbolt m/cyl and then unbolt banjo

replace m/cyl

bleed brakes

Razor i think Stingo is only changing the reservior not the whole mc, if the is the case i suppose, just make sure you dont spill brake fluid every where

Thanks Razor although...
It is the reservoir I'm changing and not the master cylinder..as far as I can see the pipe from the reservoir is very easily disconnected, I just need to ensure that I don't get air into the wrong side of the m/cylinder...
Having said that I will bow to your superior knowledge...

No, think about it. Fluid flows downhill, if you don't take any fluid out below the res, you won't need to replenish any below the res.

But, fresh brake fluid is always good.

Just flush it anyway. It would be daft not to. Doesn't take long

This is what I thought...the fluid in there is fairly new (March this year) as I had the pipes replaced for s/s ones.

ahhh, see what i get for not reading properly

anyway, i'd then empty the res with a syringe, put new one on and re-fill

bleed as required
