Just reading another thread where by one of a small group of riders fell off and had to await recovery. The rest of the group (presumably after making sure they were ok and safe) carried on their rideout. Would you do the same? I've allways had this thing of if you start something together you finish it together. Be that going on a night out or a rideout.
Am i getting too soft and should people be left to fend for themselves knowing what they could be letting themselves in for? or do you think like me and think the group should stick together. I agree that this may not be possible in instances of rideouts like the ar for example but if you and 5 others lets say were on a rideout what would you do? Not trying upset anyone here just genuinely interested in how people other than myself would deal with the situation? |

It depends
I would never leave anyone stuck at the side of the road alone. But if assured they were OK and that recovery was definitely on its way maybe. But not after an off. Far to easy for someone to be in shock and not properly realise what is happening around them.

when ollie binned it on the carlsberg ro me and yc stayed while everyone else rode on (after checking he was fine)
id say as long as the "victim" has 1 or 2 people with them everyone else should do one , so up to 4 people everyone stays over 5 and 1 or 2 people stay everyone else should go |

I'd be off down that road quicker than you could say smashed fairings
![]() I watched my mate loop his bike into the scenery once and it was completely unrideable. The sun was out and he said for us to go on ahead while he waited for the RAC but we stayed with him, mainly just to take the p. My chain broke 1 time (at band camp) and I told my 2 mates to do 1 no point in ruining their rideout as well. So for something like that, no. For an off, someone should stay |

Depends entirely on the circumstances.
Entire group waiting around is completely counterproductive, you really don't want a load of bikes sat in a possibly dodgy position especially as that is near guaranteed to attract some police attention if seen and you don't want some **** with a tape measure and a keen eye for E-marks wandering about if at all avoidable.

Then once Ollie had got off his back and his bike was out of the road YC and DP offered to hang back and help with the recoverey. Then there was no need for another 6bikes and riders to be gathered at the road side it would have had potential to cause more damage than good. |

If it was an off, someone should stay.
If its a breakdown, and you've done the best you can to get 'em mobile, why waste a good day?

if i were the one broken down i certainly wouldn't want anyone to hold my hand at the side of the road.
but having said that i personaly would feel guilty abandoning a fellow motorcyclist, espiecally if they were female. with no ulterior motive obviously. |

As above, really... when G33k snapped his chain on the Hardy Bikers, and had convinced us that we were no longer needed, then it was time to disappear... possibly a different situation though, as that was the hard shoulder of the M6, and so it was probably the best place not to be.

If it was an off and serious, then I'd stay, being the first aidery type.
If it were a breakdown then the person usually decides if they want their hands held until the truck appears. Usually on rideout, one or two stay, so not to hold everybody else up. I broke down on Suzy once, and got all annoyed. My ex fecked (because he was being a prat) and YC asked me if I wanted him to stay, I said I was ok as I was in a safe place, so he left. Had I been in the middle of nowhere the situation would have been entirely different.
