My dad bought me a gel seat from a 2004 SV650 (eBay) as a surprise present after a 270 mile trip left my rear end in much pain this weekend. However, despite checking with the local Suzuki dealer who assured him it would fit my K5 it quite clearly doesn't. Although the overall shape is about right, the two front mountings are about 1 1/2" wider than mine and don't line up with the holes in the subframe, and the sides of the seat don't follow the lines of the plastic bodywork down the side.
Would I be right in thinking this is a K3 seat? What are the chances of being able to swap the insides and cover over to my K5 base (I've recovered several bike seats in the past so not too worried about doing this if it's likely to fit). |

So it may well be a K3 seat. Re fitting the upholstery and foam from the new seat to your present one, I think you'll have to try it and see, I'm not aware of anyone haivng done this before* so I suspect you'll be blazing a trail for the rest to follow! Let us know how you get on. *If anyone has they'll be sure to correct that soon enough.

Thanks, I'll do some measuring up tonight and see if it's worth a go -they look very similar just eye-balling them next to each other. Otherwise I'll have a K3 gel seat for sale very shortly!

Just done a bit of digging and discovered it's actually a K4 SV1000 seat, so I doubt it will fit a K3 650 but happy to take some measurements just in case.
