I'm thinking seriously about buying an Almax chain to further secure my bikes.
What with the chains themselves being massive I need advise on where to loop one on the bikes. The Daytona almost definitely hasn't got space anywhere to loop the chain around the main frame and I'm not sure the older bikes will either. Which part of bikes will provide the biggest ball ache for determined thieves if there was a chain attached? As far as I can tell the best spot would be the engine side of the swingarm pivot. Any ideas? |

personally i put the chain through the back wheel, as if they have the tool to remove the wheel they have the tools to remove the chain (eventually).
If they remove the wheel, they're welcome to it as there as more of them than me and chances are a lot fitter to be able to carry a bike on the front wheel only from locked position to van. |

Don't know if your bike is compatible with these..
http://www.elitesecuritysupplies.com...ipinchpin.html Plus an almax chain and a Concave Built In Ground Anchor... Near the bottom of the linked page. http://www.elitesecuritysupplies.com/ground_anchors.htm Should give you half a chance. HTH. |

No way Jose. Couple of spanners and a paddock stand and your bike has been reduced to just a rear wheel.

Will it not go through the swingarm pivot bolt?
Shurely they won't be able to remove the rear wheel once the pin is fitted. ![]() Last edited by Mighty Boosh; 06-10-10 at 02:36 PM. |

Personally, I've secured the rear wheel with an Almax chain and put a disk lock on the front. Then there's the electronic immobiliser and a high steel gate. Hopefully my bike is scruffy enought that it won't attract people who can bypass all of this lot.
If you want to secure the frame you could consider one of these: http://www.torc-anchors.com/anti-pinch-pin.php |

Sorry, my response was to Collis.
The anti pinch pins are all good and well but then I'd have to buy at least two plus at least two more padlocks. Also I can see the pin becoming the weakest part of the setup. I'll look into them more though. Keith: that steel gate is only as good as the lock fitted to it and I'm afraid to say buy they're very easy to drill. |

You should also think about improving the security of the garage door.
Once inside with the door closed no one will know where the sound of the petrol grinder is coming from. ![]() |
