Default Clutch noise - problem?

I really hope it's not the clutch, but when I pull away, just before the clutch lever is fully released the bike makes....well, best as I can describe it a knocking noise for about a second or two. It doesn't happen all the time and sometimes it's fairly loud and sometimes it's barely noticeable. Only started to happen this morning.

I hope i'm not going paranoid here, but if anyone has any advice that would be awesome!

My bike does this too, it's just general 'knockiness' when the engine is cold. I wouldn't worry about it.

Does the clutch make a juddering feeling when you're releasing it, or does it work normally other than the noise?

I don't think it's juddering when I release it. I briefly slipped the clutch while stationary this morning, and it seemed fine. the noise happens just as the bike starts to move.
I think I may have it licked tho...was inspecting the bike last night and noticed that the chain may be the cause...it seems like it's stretched longer than the teeth of the sprockets. I oiled it and it seemed to have alleviated some of the noise, but I can still hear it ever so slightly.

Friend had something similar to this, was the front sprocket needing tightened, a little movement there makes a suprising amount of noise

I have to say i've noticed noise comming from my clutch like this too, for me the noise is kind of a squeal as you let the clutch out, only does it when the bike is cold and it often seams like it then jumps forward a little.

Same thing with the front sprocket?

cheers guys! I'm going to try to replace the chain and sprockets tonight, hopefully with little hassle (replacing the OEM chain). that should get rid of the noise.
