Default If Schuberth are the supposed to be the safest helmets then why?

Why do they get such a low rating on sharp tests?

Because the Sharp tests are flawed and a waste of time - Ignore them.

They test in areas of the helmet that aren't known or documented as being problem areas going by evidence of helmets retrieved from crash situations. Most helmets on the market are built to offer greater protection in those areas that are most likely to be hit in a crash, Sharp tests ignore some of those important areas because whoever read the specs for designing the tests read them wrong, and now they won't admit they made a ****-up.

Looking on the SHARP website they test all over the head - Front, top, rear and sides...

+1 What he said. SHARP is flawed and I'm not gonna get drawn into another debate about their testing but it is not the best way of rating helmets.

The best fitting helmet on YOUR head is the safest regardless of ratings. However the more money you spend the more you get. Better quality, better safety standards, better features, etc. Schuberth make an excellent helmet and if it right for your needs then the cost is irrelevant.

Buy a good quality lid that fits you.

Helmet makers are not in the business of killing their customers, it does not make for repeat business.

While I neither agree nor disagree with what you saying Lozzo, I am curious- Which areas are most vulnerable in a crash and which areas are tested in a SHARP test?

Sharp test may not be perfect but are certainly not a waste of time. What people don't like however is their £400 helmet being out starred by a cheaper brand.
If all the big names were consistantly at the top you wouldn't hear people belittleing it.
