Default Why do you have clipons?

Over normal bars? Just curious really is it just to pull you into the tank more?

My guesses....

1) Brings rider forward and down. Mix of mass centralisation and weight on the front
2) More aerodynamic than the "human parachute" position that flat bars give.

Beyond that I don't know, although there may be a "looks" element to why some bikes have them. Personally give me flat bars on a road bike, save clip-ons for the track...

Because I like the riding position provided the clip ons are not set too low.

There's two questions being answered here, why do clip-ons exist?

Rider aerodynamics, end of. So the rider can lie on the tank without having his fists next to his ears.

Why do you have clip-ons?

I don't anymore. But it was because I preferred a sporty prone riding position, but now I'm getting old, and find bars more comfortable.
