Default Moving to the UK next year, re-registering my SV.

Good morning. As the title says, I ought to be in the UK this time next year and I wanted pick your collective brain. My main concern is with the Euro3 emissions standards. I have a SV650S K9 with a Yoshimura slip-on silencer and a Power Commander V with auto tune installed. Do you think that I'll have any emissions/registration problems with this setup? I would really appreciate any input so that I can add to my parts list for post deployment installs. Thanks in advance.

iirc emissions are for manifacurers to deal with no joe bloggs, the only possible situation i could see would be the zaust and for a few quid stick an origanal back on for the test (if you dont still have it) then replace with your system after, tbh as long as you have the right docs and it roadlegal you should be grand

I'm assuming your coming from within the EU?

Your bike has EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval anyway, which means all it has to pass here is an MOT test. So there will be an emissions test as part of that, but nothing you are going to fail because of an aftermarket exhaust. Make sure you have the baffle in though as noise will also be part of the test. After you have an MOT it's pretty easy to register the vehicle in the UK. Keep your eye on ebay for a UK headlight.

I have bought a car in from France and registered it here before, and I looked at exporting a bike to Portugal to leave it there for my holidays. Exporting to Portugal was 10 times more difficult than importing to the UK.

As hinted at by Ralph, the more likely issue if you're coming from mainland Europe is that your headlights will point the wrong way which IS an MOT fail. At a minimum you will need to put deflectors on them, ideally get hold of a UK set via breakers/ebay.

Yeah, I wasn't too clear there was I. Best to fit a UK headlight.

Hi Sath182, which part of the UK will you be moving to? There may be someone over here in your intended region who can lend you a standard can that you could borrow for the test?

Agree regarding the headlights, keep an eye on ebay and in the for sale section on here for one.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and stick around, you'll have a bunch of friends to ride with when you get here then

Actually I'm US military and transferring to Menwith Hill. I'm not great at UK geography yet. Thanks for the advise on the headlights though, not something I would have thought of. I do have the insert for the can available, still louder than stock though. Do you know of any other items that I should be concerned with about importing from the States?

If from the states you'll need to disable the running lights too. I don't think there are any other major changes.

It might work out cheaper to sell yours and buy a new bike in this country, shipping being fairly hefty from the states. Of course if your employer is paying for that then you've got no worries.

So you are going to be based in North Yorkshire. Despite what I say about the place (500 years of bragging rights involved) It is a damm nice part of the UK with fantastic roads crying out for two wheels.

You will have to visit the Pennine Massive section of the org when you get here.
