Default Adobe Lightroom

Since there are a few photographers in here I thought I'd as the question if it is worth the money. I have very recently started to photograph things in raw after being convinced by a couple of people to give it a go.

Can people summarize the good & bad points before I take the plunge and spend a fair amount of money on it?

I've only just started using Lightroom in the last few of days, so I've not really got a firm opinion yet. You can download it for a 30 day free trial from Adobe.

https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/i...shop_lightroom

I can see a lot of nice features:

* native handling of RAW files
* good colour and exposure correction
* good tools for lens correction and de-speckling
* proper keyword indexing

The only downsides I've found so far are:

* It's going to take me months to index all my existing photos
* It doesn't appear to pre-read thumbnails or cache images very efficiently.
* I'm not a big fan of their pre-built web galleries
* You need quite a big screen for the three panel interface.
* It's not Photoshop

My home machine is running 4 CPUs and 8Gb of memory, I've got no idea what it would be like on an older PC.

Hope this helps,

Keith.

What would you want to do in post? I think that to know which one is going to be suitable for you then that question needs to be asked.

We use lightroom all the time preferring to only colour grade and crop photos rather then adjust anything within the composition.

If I can use lightroom anyone can.
