I was thinking of changing the front master cylinder in an attempt to improve my front brakes. They're not bad using standard SV master cylinder but was thinking a better alternative can be found. I'm constantly being told the twin piston calliper units are more than adequate and should be left alone.

better pads and thats about it without changing the calipers.
braided lines make a small improvement on feel. wavy discs make a small difference on cooling rate. not worth changing the master cylinder. it is matched to the slave pistons in the calipers. by decreasing the size you will have to move the piston further to get the same pad movement, by increasing it you will reduce the amount of force you offer to the slave for a given amount of hand pressure. |

Stock brakes can work fine with good servicing, braided lines (a definite must have on any curvy), good fluid and pads.
I prefer GSXR calipers TBH, more rigid. Brembo MC is good, more rigid, better feel. But too expensive for using on stock calipers.

A good service does wonders to the stock. Decent fluid is a must, I've found putoline's DOT4 is good. All depends upon budget TBH I'd look at doing a 4pot swap if cash wern't so tight

I can lift the rear with my stock calipers, do you need more powerful than that?

Once you have the standard brakes serviced and working as they should the next big advantage comes from having the right springs and damping in the front suspension, hotly followed by a good tyre.

I must say that my brakes aren't that bad. They are less forceful when compared with blade or Gixxer brakes that's all. I find having strong one finger brakes give me a whole lot more confidence than anything and was thinking whether there could be a simple solution to upgrading them. I have already put in new organic pads, Hell braded hoses and refurbished the master cylinder and calipers along with new hydrolic of course. They're good but compared to sport bikes they're lacking.
