Default Rain To Blame?

The bike (54plate pointy) took a proper soaking on thursday, I towel'd it down when I got home. This morning on a ride I noticed the Speedo wasn't registering a speed...0... Returning to it later when riding the speed was flucuating and I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing 186!...

Having researched on the Forum I was expecting some expensive reg/rec problems or at least battery related trouble. Haynes Manual and toolkit in hand I went to check the Sv's unmentionables...

Problem had resolved. No problems...

Is this problem likely to re-occour? and if so how can I find out the cause... I was assuming rain had got into it somehow but not sure how I can solve that issue..

Any help suggestions welcome

It's likely the rotor on the front wheel or a connection.

my old bike used to do the same... i think it was to do with the speedo cable it used to undo itself over time

As its a pointy then no way, however if it was a curvy, then no problem.

As YC said, speedo rotor or connection in the rain is the most likely cause. It'll probably happen again in really heavy rain
