RIP/Biker Killed threads.

I was wondering when forums.sv650.org became the BBC news.

This place is often likened to a family, and when one of our membership is fatally injured, the reaction and raw feeling can be amazing to see, and is a credit to us all.

However, if I want to see "Random bloke who just happened to have a motorbike got killed on it" stories, Google is where I would rather go.

Riding motorbikes is one of the riskier forms of transport and having fun, we all know, or should know the risks. Most of us will have seen and heard the concerns of friends and family who do not ride.

Do we really need to collect together all the stories that they might present to us about why its too dangerous?

So people, any chance we stop re-hashing the Beeb?

I don't get it either. Putting up a rip thread for someone nobody knows just because they were on a bike? Don't mean to sound disrespectful, but I don't see the need. It's just depressing.

Other side of the coin, does it really matter? Just don't look at the thread, I don't most of the time, but occasionally a death, not necessarily a biker, it will be something I'd like to post on due to the circumstances for one reason or another.

I find the threads, 'oh somebody pulled out on me and I didn't crash' threads a bit more pointless, so what? I get pulled out on all the time and worse.

It's not just you SK.

I don't feel strongly about them. I need the odd reminder to stop me feeling invincible. The threads that I don't think much off are the Recommend me a..........ones. Recommend me a.....toothbrush, recommend me a hammer, oh please.

Have to agree with you there SK, it just gives me a nasty sinking feeling everytime I see one and must slightly etch away at the nerves subconsciously. Yes we ride bikes, my family repeatedly reminds me it's dangerous but unfortunately it's the risks we take and part of parcel of what attracts some of us to it in the first place. For others it's a way of life that comes with far too many good aspects to outweigh the potential nastiness that can happen.

Thing is, you end up reading out of curiosity, just to reassure yourself it's noone you care about I suppose.
