Default Barbaric vandalism indeed

This is the breaking up of the Nimrod aircraft. The union bloke describes it as barbaric vandalism. Totally agree. In the vid you can see a **** off digger bashing the hell out of the airframes.

What a crying shame, a crass, moronic decision. I know that Ratty will be very upset by all this. So much work just trashed by thoughtless ******s.

Spose we'd best get used to it, the Harriers are next, along with the Ark Royal.

Damn it, they were awesome planes, they could have at least taken the "important military bits" out and offered them up to museums or something, like the Concordes. At least then they would have something to show rather than just spending money breaking them up.

I know the Eurofighter is pretty awesome but it cant do/replace everything especially at the cost of the things.
Having said that i guess things have to move on sometime or another otherwise we would still be building and flying spitfires and hurricanes, if only....

And Harriers are something that i have missed from airshows, they always did a great show, i wonder if anyone will try and get one privately just for shows... i mean the Vulcan is privately owned and flying for shows, damned expensive but damned awesome.
And the Lancaster (1 of 2 still flying in the world) has limited hours left in its airframe/engines.

So i guess we will have to get used to saying goodbye to certain things like this...

I work in the simulators at Woodford occasionally, the atmosphere on the site has changed, I was stopped the other day for a search of the car to ensure I wasn't removing anything belonging to BAE.

It's been a sad sight to see the aircraft sitting on the far side of the airfield, and it will be a huge battle for all the folk involved to find new work, I wish them all good luck.

cardinal f***ing sin!!!

I would love to know how scrapping £2bn of aircraft is cost saving as they'll be ordering them in 5 years time when they realise that it was a mistake.

As most firm will charge double the original price due to the risk of the govt. contract from how on
