I have been told that some racer remove the filler restriction form the petrol tank inlet, so as they can see the fuel level. Has anyone carried out this mod? and if so how was this carried out preventing any metal filings or sparks into the tank?

Just use a dip stick/fuel pump. Far easier!

Hey buggerlugs!!
is that you back from Canada??? I've got a confession...took my top yoke to work to polish up after removing ignition switch. My workmate got a hold of it and has milled the "ice cream holder" off!! Can I still be a serious racer without this essential piece of kit??? TC 252 |

Aye Aye!, Not yet. I'm still half way up Vancouver island.
Now that the icecream holder has gone you have a loverly flat bit for mounting a Starbucks coffee mug holder! It'd be ideal when you're brakes lock again and you're stoood for an hour waiting for recovery ![]() Back next Monday. I'll give you a bell. C |

I have done it with a really sharp chisel and hammer. It cut out quite easily actually.
The tank was off the bike and had been empty of fuel a while mind..... |
