I've got some, sorry forgot to say in other thread.

Comes with pulse coil and that moulded bit you were worried about all as one unit.

I will confess, I jumped in and changed the reg/rec for a new one, the original may be ok if you want it.

Not worth the risk, quite plausible for a buggered reg rec to fry the generator.

I'm in Halifax, £30 + P+P unless you want to collect, will test it tomorrow.

That was my next question, could another underlying fault cause one of the 18 windings to go bang ?

Overcurrent from a dodgy reg rec causes heat build up which will find weakest point in insulation and arc that bit out. Or it was failure of insulation which spread out.

Personally I would change reg-rec for a newer MOSFET one just for reliability.
