Default Recommend me a... motorbike

I've been out of the buying market since 2004 when I bought my trusty SV. Sold it last year and now thinking that may have been an error. Stuff has happened in my private life lately thats made me think sod it, lets get another so i need suggestions so i can draw up a short list...

i am looking for something that is sporty enough but not back breaking wrist breaking material. something that should i do another track day isnt going to be too far behind (i appreciate its as much the rider as the bike but you hopefully get my drift)

want to do a bit of touring too so when im 2 up or off out on it for a while i get a degree of comfort

i have no brand loyalty so all (serious) suggestions welcome

budget prolly 5k ish, will go a tad higher for the right machine

i am 6ft 4 and the SV was a tad small on me, but it was my first bike so it suited me perfectly at the time, so size is relatively important

OK being serious

VFR800 is fairly sporty, but has the wrist friendly riding position you are after, will also tour well especially if you get the hard luggage.

GSXR-750 like mine, is more comfortable thant you realise, but touring 2 up wouldnt be much fun on it. So you'd be limited like that. If you want a sportsbike, then they are all two up compromised, Liz describes my GSXR as the most uncomfortable bike she's ever been pillion on...

Bandit 1250, big comfy, would tour OK, but you might look a bit daft on a track day.

Thats all I really have experience of, depends how much and how often you'd want to do two up work on it really.

Fazer 1000 also comes with rave reviews, but I've not ridden one, but I do like the style of the older ones.

Fazer 1000 is really good, it was my other choice when buying my Tiger.

Are Tigers your cup'o'tea?

Real world fast, comfy, your size, I'm 6"3' and it's perfect.

Pick your wallet size and comfort barrier limit
All of them are competent bikes.

Ther is no such thing as a "do all bike" though, there has to be a compromise somewhere and something will always be lacking depending on where you make the compromise.

can get a good zzr14 for that sort of brass.....and yes they can go round a track successfully.

if not....summat other than a Trumpet, tooo common these days

But then again, I dunno owt about bikes, cause I go for odd types that are highly relaible at being unreliable, but when they do go, give you hair raising fun
