Bought a bike with a mate last year. less that five minutes after setting off on it, thought "ohh, this could be interesting"
![]() It's certainly turning out to be quite interesting as bodges after bodges rear up. I'm glad someone else(very inexperienced rider that is) didn't buy it though...just getting it back to base was involving hehe. Granted bike was advertised as 'sold as seen p/x' from a dealer via Ebay but finding a 30amp fuse in place of a 15amp fuse was one thing I'm sure they would have ben aware off. Surprised when the 30amp fuse went(few minutes down the road), there wasn't a fire ![]() I'm not really complaining mind....as even with the horrors being found, we're still well 'ahead' . That said, the stuff with the fuse could well have caused somone to have a serious accident. Will have to go and make a least off the bodge/horrors that reared up. Some folks(might even be a garage) really have to business putting hands on a bike hehe What horrors have you found on a bike/bikes you've bought : D |

Bar a guy that sprayed wd40 on the tyres to make it look newer/cleaner (I therefore declined a testride but bought it anyway!) I've not had too bad a time.

Bought the beta knowing absolutely nothing about them, later found that the footpegs had both cracked/bent then been re-welded in the wrong position, making removing them a bit of a challenge as the bolts had also been welded. The sidestand also turned out to be badly bent/loose and one of the bolts knackered. I did ask why it leaned over so far on the stand but I was told "they're all like that"
![]() Was also told the rear tyre had a slow puncture which turned out to be a spoke leaking air. |

i bought a bike that had a little rag rammed under the fork dust seal to stop the fork oil leaking for a few hundred mile. The chain had 0.0001mm play and had made the sprockets look stainless steel shiny from excess wear/ pressure.
My last sv i bought had a tyre so squared off i found it difficult to go round corners. I had an sv that was delivered, when i checked it over before riding and 50% off the bolts were only hand tight. obviously rush rebuilt by a noob. |

No real horror stories exactly, just lots of little things really. Bolts missing are the usual things I find, why some of them are missing I'll never understand. Following that badly rounded bolts are the next things on the list where someone clearly has "had a go" at some maintenance. I've also found a cracked top yoke that may and or may not have had something to do with the crash I was in three days after buying it, I'll never know for sure...

Actually...
Na, yours was fine. Though I did break one of Stretchie's sockets on it, wasn't a big deal as it wasn't one of mine. |

With the 125 the collector bar/box thing between the two pipes was going, but then they all do that lol
Suzy, well I knew what I was getting into with that one, and nothing that beating the ex with a rolling pin didn't solve ![]() Dave, the choke plungers were seized solid, and having Sid Squid under a sheet of plastic at AR07 was rather 'interesting' in the pouring rain. When YC unstuck them when we got home we found the carb arms were worn, nothing a new set of carbs off the forum didn't solve Kitty......welllll where do we start, kitty has a multitude of sins, that I am fully aware happens, as that is how it is, as they really are a 'they all do that' bike. The first one was the dreaded radiator leak...it could have happened a lot further into our relationship that 88 miles back from the Dealership ![]() Then I found someone had 'tidied' the rear, now its very nice, and certain electrics that are placed in the wrong place at factory have been moved, which is good........but when they are all placed on the plastic undertray, and when you take out the bolts to put a grabrail on, the whole bloody lot drops onto the rear tyre....its not so good! The petrol tank paint. A very strange one, we think its original paint, but when would them folks in Italy paint it in a damp environment? After xmas the paint on the tank bubbled up with condensation, its a feckin mess, it has gone down rather a lot in the hot weather, but not entirely ![]() Its a horror bike, always knew that, but I still like it, and when its not bouncing about at 3k revs cause its not got up to 80 degrees ![]() ![]()
