Why avgas? You upped compression?

The higher octane rating stops the fuel from prematuerly exploding and contains a trace of lead to protect the valve seats
Engine is standard compression. 12-1 or something can't quite remember.
Makes a huge difference in power both on dyno 69 with no end can on standard jets
And on the strip

69 brake on Avgas! The motor should be chucking a lot more power out on Avgas
That is a waste of cash TBH 95/ 97 would give you the same power.

I'm not convinced, could you post the data from back to back runs?

Avgas is meant to burn in big air cooled lycomings and stuff which run at 3000rpm with twin plugs, rather slow burn. Unless you NEED to prevent preignition or detonation because you're running some stupid compression ratio or masses of boost there's no point in it. IMO.

Regarding preignition, standard pump fuel does not preignite in a stock engine, nor in mine with pipe, filter, hot cams etc.

Its a higher ron rating to road fuel. But you've already corrected me in your response to madandy.

Yes i know avgas is formulated to be run at altitude
