Default Jack up kit question

Right, a few months ago I made some dog bones to jack the back end up 45mm.

Fitted these and then got a hagon shock set up for my weight.

Then dropped the yokes down 5mm.

Since the weather has turned good I've been out on the bike a lot more and have noticed it dosnt feel very stable in corners especially past a certain lean point.

Once I get it over I have to fight to keep it on line through the bends.

At first I thought the problem was me and it still may be.

Measured the seat height tonight and it measures 855mm ( 805 is standard ). So I have an increase of 50mm.

My question to the org - is 50mm too much and will it muck up the handling?

Or is 50mm ok and it's me and the way I ride.

how good are your tyres buddy. I.E shape, pressures things like that. 50mm does sound a bit mad along with a 5mm fork drop as most kits jack up around 45mm. try haising the forks back to normal and have a play lol

Hi,

IMO, I'd say the SV doesn't need it's a*se pointing that much to the heavens to handle.

If I were you, I'd put the standard dog bones back in.

That said, you could approach it this way. Put the forks flush(caps not included) with the top yoke and then try that. If still not good, stick the standard dog bones back in, put forks to standard postion in yokes and see how that feels.

By the way, the standard postion of the forks on the naked is 6mm(fork cap not included) of stanchion showing.

Also, if seat height has increased by 50mm, that roughly equivalent(IMSMR) to having a 25mm longer shock....don't know of anyone that recommends that much increase over standard length.

Good luck

Thanks all for the advice, I'm going to put it all back to standard ( original dog bones and 6mm of fork showing through yoke ).
I'll see how I get on with that set up.

Update- put the back end back to normal and increased the rebound damping on the shock and all is good again.

Bike holds line perfectly and feels planted again.
